Conferences : Environmental Policy

The Sage Gateshead is committed to reducing the impact that our magnificent building has on the environment.

It is our goal as an organisation to not only be as environmentally friendly as possible, but also to be an example of best practice for other organisations.

The Sage Gateshead are proud winners of the Green Tourism Silver Award and continue to work in an environmentally friendly way. As a founding participant of 10:10, The Sage Gateshead aims to have reduced their carbon emmissions by 10% in 2010 and are also working towards BS8901, the British Standard for sustainability within the events industry, in partnership with the Sustainable Events Group. For more information on BS8901 please contact Joeli Brearley, Head of Conference and Events.

The Sage Gateshead uses only renewable electric energy to run our landmark building along with all performances and conferences that take place within it.  Please see our Renewable Energy Certificate for further information.  A recent assessment carried out by an independent assessor to monitor the efficiency of our building showed us to be using significantly less energy than the typical amount predicted for our venue.  To see our operational rating please click here.

To find out more about what we as an organisation are currently doing to reduce our environmental impact and also what we plan to do in the future please refer to our Environmental Policy .

If you are interested in investigating new ways to reduce the impact that your conference or event has on the environment we would be happy to discuss options with you.
