Adult Programme

Fancy a new challenge?  Always wanted to sing or play an instrument?  Interested in exploring new musical experiences?  Our wide-ranging adult programme aims to offer opportunities for everyone, from beginners to the experienced singer or player.  Alongside our highly experienced core team of regular leaders, artists from our world-class performance programme contribute as guest tutors and speakers in our pre-concert talks, and to study days, work-out days and master-classes.  Look out for details of these special opportunities in our Events Diary and on the What's on pages of this website.

Regular opportunities in The Sage Gateshead

We run a wide range of singing groups, ensembles and classes for all interests and abilities, mostly delivered on a termly basis.

We offer a weekly World Carnival Band, steel pan classes and a range of Folk Ensembles on a termly basis.

Look out for our Saturday Special series of Workout Days exploring folk, world music, jazz, and chamber music.

Cobwebs

The Cobweb Orchestras have a long association with Northern Sinfonia and are now run by Andy Jackson across Durham, Cumbria and Northumberland.

The aim of Cobwebs is to offer as many people as possible the chance to experience the joy of participating in orchestral music.

Activities including rehearsals and workshops with professional musicians, performances (sometimes with Northern SInfonia and other regional music groups), residential courses etc are open to players of any age, ability or experience - no-one is turned away!

Cobwebs has given people who haven't played since leaving full time education the incentive to return to music-making, and others who have taken up an instrument in later life will find a welcoming and encouraging environment in which to improve their skills.

To get involved contact Andy Jackson on 01388 602 436.
