Louise Taylor

Learning & Participation Coordinator, The Sage Gateshead

Louise has a combined honours degree in Music and History from the University of Northampton and an MMus in Ethnomusicology from the School of Oriental and African Studies, with a specialism in Jewish music.

Louise moved to the North East in 2002 to complete a one year Folkworks Administrator Traineeship in the Performance Programming department of The Sage Gateshead; this developed into a long term role, and in 2005 Louise moved to the Learning and Participation department as MusicLeader North East Coordinator.

In 2006 Louise left The Sage Gateshead to become Project Coordinator for Sangini, a Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) led Women's organisation in Sunderland, specialising in Arts in Health projects.  Louise devised and delivered a number of projects aimed at raising levels of physical and spiritual health amongst women in BME communities, and supporting community development.

In Autumn 2007 Louise returned to The Sage Gateshead to coordinate projects across the Practitioner Development and Community strands of the Learning and Participation department, including REFLECT.  In her spare time Louise plays the viola and violin and performs and teaches Klezmer music, Eastern European Jewish folk music.
